After setting up site- or course-level LTI integration, you can test the LMS - Codon integration as follows:

LTI Launch

  1. Please let your contact at Codon know that you plan to test the LTI launch, and share the email address associated with the LMS instructor account you will be using for the test. They will set up credentials for you. This must happen first because when launching to Codon Learning from the LMS as an instructor, the email address associated with your LMS instructor account must match an existing instructor user in our platform.

  2. Log in to the LMS as the instructor.

  3. Set up the integration by adding Codon as an External Tool and entering the launch URL provided by your Codon contact. Please note that you cannot simply link to the placement. The launch URL must be placed in the course to link to Codon via Willo Labs. If you are not familiar with this process, see the following support articles:

  4. Launch to Codon Learning by clicking on the integration link.
  5. If prompted, click "Load Codon in a new window".

  6. Select "LMS Test Course" to link your LMS course to a test Codon course created by your Codon contact. This is a simple course for confirming functionality of the LMS integration. Course selection is a one-time step.

  7. Click “Save selection”.

  8. You should see a message “Please close this page, and relaunch your Codon Learning course from your LMS.” This means you are successfully connected.

  9. If you relaunch the course from the LMS you will see Codon’s instructor course homepage.

    To Launch as a Student

  10. To see the student view, open a fresh Chrome Incognito window, or another browser instance that won't be saving cache and cookies from your launch as an instructor.

  11. Log in to the LMS as a student that is enrolled in that same LMS course.

  12. Click on the integration link to load Codon in a new window.

  13. You should now be able to experience the Codon Learning platform as a student would. A pre-existing Codon account is not required for student users - launching from the LMS triggers the creation of their Codon account and enrollment.

    To Test Grade Sync

  14. Continuing from above, navigate to "Assignments" as a student and click "Test Assignment".

  15. Enter any text in the text box of the first question, select "muddy" or "clear" at the bottom of the page, and then click Submit. This question is graded for completion, so at that point you will have earned one point.

  16. Using a fresh Incognito window (or another browser instance that won't be saving cache and cookies from your student launch), return to the LMS and re-launch to Codon as an instructor.

  17. Follow instructions in this support article to use grade sync.
