Once you decide on the timing for your assignment types (readiness readings, pre-class, homework, and study paths) such as how many days before the due date students can open the assignment, the due date and time, and the late policy - there’s an easy way to set the default settings for these assignments right in the instructor app! This will save you from needing to set these every time you create a new assignment.
To access the preset settings, go to the course you want to update. Now click on the gear symbol next to your course title:
On the right-hand half of the page, you will see “Preset Rules” for each of the assignment types. There is a tab for each of the assignment types: Readiness/Pre-class, Homework, and Study Path. Select the assignment type for which you want to adjust the preset rules.
If you wish to add a late policy preset rule, you’ll need to first toggle the switch to accept late work. Then you can set how many days you’ll accept late work and the percentage of point deduction for late work.
You can either save presets after updating one, two, or all three assignment types. If you wish to retroactively update the preset rules – for example, you already created all of your pre-class assignments and now want to apply the preset rules to each one – please reach out to your Educational Support Specialist (Ashley, Erin, or Alexa) for help.
