Did you know that taking a practice test improves exam scores by half a letter grade, on average, compared to other study techniques like rereading the material? This article describes how the Codon practice test works and some tips for taking it.
Preparing for the Practice Test
- The Practice Test becomes available once you’ve moved all the cards to the Test Me! Checkpoint or when you are within 3 days of the test.
- For best results, we recommend waiting to take the Practice Test until you feel mostly ready for the actual exam.
- We recommend that you take the Practice Test after completing all assignments and Prep questions. That way you get the best information on how you would do if you took the test that day.
During the Practice Test
- Put away notes and other resources to see what you really know.
- Attempt to answer all of the questions even if you aren’t sure of the correct answer.
- Much like a real test, you will not receive immediate feedback for each question when you take the practice test, only at the end.
After the Practice Test
When you complete the Practice Test, you have two options:
1. Find Practice Test questions alongside related questions from other assignments.
Return to the Study Path and expand each topic card in the Test Me! Checkpoint 3. Click on Practice Test (“PT”) questions to try them again, figure out the correct answers, and read question feedback (see image below).
Note: If you have topic cards in earlier checkpoints (I Should Review or Prep Me), you must move them ahead to Test Me! by answering questions or clicking “Skip for now” in order to reveal Practice Test questions for those topics.
2. Retry All Practice Test Questions
To see and retry all Practice Test questions in one place, click “Retry All Practice Test Questions”. Questions are grouped into ones you missed and ones you answered correctly. You can retry the questions as many times as you like to figure out the answer and read question feedback.
